U.S. President Joe Biden, at 81, has reaffirmed his commitment to serving a full second term if re-elected in November. This declaration comes as concerns about his age and fitness for office continue to surface.
During a daily briefing on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden is dedicated to a second term. “Yes,” Jean-Pierre affirmed when asked if the president had pledged to serve another four years should he win against Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Jean-Pierre also indicated that the Democratic Party remains firmly united behind Biden. Despite ongoing discussions among party lawmakers about whether Biden should step aside, she emphasized that the party is focused on overcoming current challenges.
“We do want to turn the page… We want to get to the other side of this,” Jean-Pierre stated, reflecting on the party’s desire to move past the present crisis.“He wants to move forward, unite the party,” she added. “The president’s going to move forward.”
As Biden gears up for the election, the focus remains on consolidating support and addressing the concerns regarding his ability to govern effectively for another four years.
