In a thrilling game that will go down in history, the Sacramento Kings narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 176-175 in a double-overtime clash that saw the second-highest score in NBA history. The Kings staged an incredible comeback with 10 unanswered points in the final two minutes of the game, led by Malik Monk’s personal record of 45 points and De’Aaron Fox’s 42 points.
Kawhi Leonard top-scored for the Clippers with 44 points, while Russell Westbrook made a solid debut with 17 points and 14 assists. The game was tied 153-153 at the end of regulation time, and after another overtime, Fox made a driving layup to break the deadlock and secure the win for the Kings.
The game was the highest-scoring match in Sacramento Kings history and the second-highest-scoring game in NBA history, behind the 1983 clash between the Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons. Despite the loss, the Clippers remain in third place in the Western Conference with a record of 27-14, while the Kings are in ninth place with a 19-22 record.
In other NBA news, the Milwaukee Bucks won their 13th consecutive game with a 128-99 victory over the Miami Heat, despite losing Giannis Antetokounmpo to a knee injury in the first quarter. Jrue Holiday led the Bucks with 24 points. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 116-101, with Klay Thompson’s impressive 42-point performance leading the way. The Warriors played without Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins.
Coach Tyronn Lue of the Clippers praised the game, saying, “I thought it was a great game, especially for the fans. A crazy game, a lot of momentum shifts.”
