The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most anticipated events of the year, bringing together countries from around the world to celebrate music and culture. This year, the UK is hosting the competition on behalf of Ukraine, and an all-female line-up has been announced for the semi-finals. Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon, and Julia Sanina will co-host the two knock-out stages, showcasing their unique talents and experiences.

Waddingham is an accomplished West End and Broadway actress, best known for her role in the hit series Ted Lasso. Dixon, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, is also an accomplished singer, while Sanina is the frontwoman of the Ukrainian alternative band The Hardkiss.

The grand final, set to air on Saturday, 13 May, will feature Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc as commentators, with Norton describing the event as “the greatest show on earth.” The UK is also committing financially to the event, with the local government in Liverpool pledging £4m for attractions around the contest. The BBC, as host broadcaster, will shoulder most of the cost, with estimates ranging from £8m to £17m.

More than 160 million people worldwide are expected to tune in to watch the competition, which is not only a music competition but also a celebration of the diverse cultures and traditions of the participating countries. Fans can look forward to more information about tickets and participating artists in the coming weeks.
